Step-by-Step Guide: How to Prepare a Gang Sheet in Photoshop

What is a Gang Sheet?

If you’re new to heat transfers, you’ve probably heard the term “gang sheet.” A gang sheet allows you to print multiple designs on one sheet, maximizing space and reducing printing costs.

Great for bulk printing

Useful for multiple sizes of the same design

Minimizes wasted space & saves money

Gang sheets work well for team uniforms, branded apparel, and large print runs, where you need a variety of print sizes like:

  • Full back prints
  • Left chest prints
  • Full front imprints

Most of our DTF ink formulas support gang sheet printing, and pricing is based on per sheet usage—the more designs you fit, the lower the cost per image.

Step-by-Step: How to Create a Gang Sheet in Photoshop

Follow these simple steps to prepare a gang sheet for your DTF transfers using Adobe Photoshop.

1️⃣ Set Up Your Document

  • Open Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, or CorelDRAW.
  • Create a new document with your required sheet size.
  • Alternatively, adjust the canvas size in an existing document.

2️⃣ Select the Correct Color Mode

  • Go to Document Color Mode → Select CMYK (this ensures accurate color printing).

3️⃣ Arrange Your Images

  • Import your designs into the Photoshop document.
  • Position the first image in the top-left corner.
  • Adjust image sizes to fit as many designs as possible while keeping clear spacing.

4️⃣ Add Cutting Spacing

To ensure precise cuts, add guidelines for spacing:

✔ Create a 0.5-inch wide box spanning the width of the sheet.

✔ Example: If using an 11x17” sheet, add a 0.5” x 11” box.

5️⃣ Duplicate Your Design

  • Select your original image.
  • Press Command + Shift + D (Mac) or Ctrl + Shift + D (Windows) to duplicate the design.
  • Repeat until all available space is filled.

6️⃣ Add Vertical Cutting Space

  • Create a box spanning the length of the sheet (0.5” x full sheet height).
  • Example: For an 11x17” sheet, add a 17” x 0.5” box.

7️⃣ Duplicate Rows of Graphics

  • Select the top row of designs.
  • Press Command + Shift + D (Mac) or Ctrl + Shift + D (Windows) to duplicate the row down the page.
  • Repeat until the entire sheet is filled with graphics.

8️⃣ Save Your Gang Sheet

  • Save your file in PNG format (preferred for DTF printing).
  • Embed all images before saving to ensure proper print quality.

📤 Now, your gang sheet is ready to upload!
